What type of bike rack can be fitted to a van?

To find out which bike carrier you can fit on your van, you first need to know the configuration of its chassis. The chassis must allow a motorbike carrier to be fitted. If this is not the case, you will need to add suitable brackets so that you can attach your bike rack.

Before selecting the right motorbike carrier for your van, you need to take into account the payload of your van and the length of its overhang, even if this is generally less than that of a motor home. You need to make sure that the total weight of your van does not exceed its GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) with the bike carrier and motorbike (and possibly an extra bike). Similarly, you must ensure that the overhang of your van is not too long with the motorbike carrier, to avoid it rubbing on the ground when you drive over speed bumps.
