Lashing and securing for motorbikes and scooters

To transport a motorbike or scooter, you can install a motorbike carrier in your motorhome or converted van, or use a motorbike carrier trailer. In all cases, you'll need to complete your equipment with a lashing system to ensure that your motorised two-wheeler (motorbike or scooter) is properly secured to your trailer or motorhome.

What is a lashing system for motorbikes and scooters?

This refers to all the fastenings that enable a motorised two-wheeled vehicle (scooter or motorbike) to be correctly secured to its support, whether a motorbike carrier or trailer. These fastenings are essential to ensure that your motorbike or scooter does not move during transport, for optimum safety throughout the journey.

For good securing a motorbike to a trailer, If you're using a trailer, you'll need to attach two straps to the front and two straps to the rear of the motorbike, attaching them to the trailer's anchor points at a 45° angle so that the straps can exert enough force to hold the motorbike in place.

• A Smartfix strap: this strap is fitted with a practical system that allows it to unwind and retract automatically.
